#thiscityscentre qr secrets Vimeo CD Baby

Far away from the Phonic studio but I'm keeping up with Exeter as best I can. Last week Chris found one of the QR codes on the map led to a video. I have tried it out on a Nexus which sort of works but I can't see which code it has found. Also I notice the CD Baby tracks can be found from the website. These are 99cents each but I think most of the content through the map is free.

Of course the map is excellent value at £2 . Seems to be working ok as a guide to Lancaster also. My major adjustment is to include the university campus also.

Mixing place and time, Chicago #Print13 ExCel 2014

I'm in Lancaster listening to Phonic FM online from Exeter. Seems to be the robot but I expect there will be somebody in the studio soon. I left a link to a repeat of an edit from last week but seems to be lost at the moment. So I'm a bit lost around time and space anyway.

Then trough Twitter I find a press release from #Print13 in Chicago. Konica Minolta and Komori are jointly working on an inkjet machine for a sheet 23" x 29" at 3,300 an hour. Recently I saw a whattheythink webinar on B2 inkjet so there will be more about this at Print13 and at IPEX next year. I think Fuji and Screen will be at IPEX. Maybe Konica Minolta will have some info about Komori.

But "commercial availability" of the Komori / Konica Minolta device is not expected till the end of 2014. This could mean a small number of sites as tests with more over the next few years. So things can move quite slowly. I am thinking about the next few months as one phase in print announcements. The Cross Media event in London is repeated as part of IPEX so it will be interesting to see how the ideas look in a different context.

Some large print companies will not be at IPEX as it appears at the moment but they may turn up as part of something else. For example Apple dealers appear at BETT so they may not be far away. Or they may cover Cross Media at BETT. At the last IPEX Adobe guested on some pre-press stands so they may be in background.

Including Chicago in the time space also has the advantage of covering more companies from the USA. They seem to be the ones less interested in IPEX.

Chris and JD have now turned up in the studio so being in two places just got easier.

Wild Show edit , edit for nxt week #thiscityscentre

As I am in Lancaster next week I have done an edit of the Wild Show this week that could be played again. This depends on who turns up and when so it may not all be played. The edit is about half an hour but I covered the drama hour as well this Thursday so the original was an hour and a half.

One theme is how copyright controls what we can include, both in radio and in a listen again mode. I still have a status issue on YouTube after a Prince cover. The edit has a couple of tracks from YouTube so I guess it will be ok to include them again.

Chris has found it ok to read the QR codes from the maps. So we should find the sounds during September. It could be easier though. Maybe there could be a sample track on Soundcloud or somewhere easy to find? Or a press kit with something cleared for radio.

There is still plenty of time. The performance is expected to include live streaming from the windows included in the video at RAMM. There will also be a version available online. So possibly some of the sound can appear on radio eventually. More later.

A Manager's Guide to Self Development , new edition

This post will be expanded later. I am still in summer drift mode to some extent. I did meet John Burgoyne on my last trip to Lancaster, actually near Lake Windemere. I recorded some video which is still not edited. I hope to split it up into sections but this is something for the darker evenings. It will appear within a few months.

One bit of news is a new release of A Managers Guide to Self Development. I can only find the paperback on Amazon though there is a Look Inside link for a Kindle version. There may be online versions of the actions suggested. Not sure about this.

I have ordered a copy but meanwhile I have looked at the Look Inside intro. There is an update on the connection with ideas about the Learning Company. It is suggested that one change since the first edition 35 years ago is the take on careers. No longer is it assumed that a stake in a blue chip company might continue indefinitely. There is also an interest in networks and shared knowledge / development. Not sure if I have got this right. more later when I read the book. What will this mean for the Learning Company? It might mean networks across several sites.

Twinity Beach now twinned with Chicago #print13

Trying out moves around Exeter has shifted my mind. So it now makes sense to think about Print 13 in Chicago as well as IPEX next year near Bow Creek. The problems of walking alongside the River Lee will resolve in proportion. I am still interested in how virtual worlds can be replicated, even if just in sound. Meanwhile in Exeter #thiscityscentre is moving along with a B2 sheet so the recent whattheythink webinar on high speed inkjet is relevant. Not sure how online from Exeter will relate to all of Print 13 but more later.
