Cross Media update #2 - Haymarket

There was a Haymarket stand even though they sold Printweek and there was no show daily as at Digital Print World and Total Print, previous versions of what used to be Southprint.

I think there is still a place for print but it is in a balance within communication. The show got this over well, it seems to have settled down on this basis. And Haymarket is moving in  a similar direction. Less print but still part of the offer. There were three magazines on the stand, Campaign, Marketing and PR Week. PR Week is now monthly but the name is the same. Seems very sensible, like the Radio Times remaining well known even though it is mostly about television. Maybe the London College of Printing could have kept the name people knew about but anyway I may be going off topic.

Revolution and Media Week have gone into the website as far as I can tell. Brand Republic has content from each print title. The Wall is a blog, seems mostly about digital. Campaign seems strong enough as a weekly, maybe advertising people like print. Marketing may be less about advertising but still interested in graphics.

Meanwhile the Guardian has yet to do a guide to Haymarket in the series on a Monday. I think they should do something soon. Things could change again to make it more obvious which brand is about what.

Cross Media update #1 - Adobe

I am going through the carrier bag full of print from Cross Media. I managed to do three tweets from London so now catching up from the desktop in Exeter. Apparently you should do about four tweets a day and it matters not a lot if you repeat yourself at different times of day. So I will try roughly the same thing but with more info each time probably.

So far no reply from @martysneo on where to find downloads about Adobe on analytics etc. There is a video featuring  but it is very quick. I really don't mind a long white paper sort of thing, not just a mention in a social media mix. Maybe this is just me.

Also there could have been more about Creative Cloud. Some technical information on how the transition away from Flash is going. If that is what it is. Last year there was a full day of training and Q&A . Maybe it is now a product in decline so no promotion budget, like Postscript.

A blog is a way to ask questions.

#13SWMA, #cmshow13 #crossmedia13 @CrossMediaShow South West Music Awards @KEXINO

I seem to have been using the wrong # .

Should be #cmshow13 , as used by @CrossMediaShow

Not #crossmedia13 as I used earlier.

Conclusion seems to be that it could be useful to promote a # very strongly at an early stage. I am still trying to get more interest in #13SWMA for the South West Music Awards. Hello Spiders, especially if you support the working moms act - #SWMA13 but you have come to the wrong spot if there is such a thing.

Welcome also for Critical Management Studies and the Content Marketing Summit.

Next year even #14SWMA may not be unique and we will have to return to real space.

Guardian, Futurelearn, Brands

There probably will not be any posts till the weekend. I will be travelling and at Cross Media. But there may be some tweets at @will789gb.

Notes to be expanded later

The Guardian has just about recognised Futurelearn in print. Page 40 today.  No obvious negative comment.

Meanwhile the Brands course has invited some coursework that allows a wider range of views. I will have to leave this now and get back to it on Friday. According to the Guardian there will be some peer review features added next year. Futurelearn is still in beta. So I think repeating some content in other networks is probably ok. If I just get a retweet I won't worry about copyright or IP.

Info on playlist for Wild Show this Thursday

As explained previously I will be at the Cross Media Show in Islington this Thursday so will not be in the Phonic studio, Exeter. I usually do the first half hour so have left a CD with the storyteller from the previous show. The reason I usually do the first half hour is that JD is sometimes stuck in traffic on the way from Totnes and Chris sometimes finds the bus from Countess Weir more reliable than at other times. But they may both turn up before my CD finishes and / or have something else to play. Our approach is very flexible so these tracks may turn up on another occasion.

Anyway, they are sort of based around Superheavy. I was reminded of Superheavy when I noticed that Nitin Sawhney appeared at Mama Stones in Exeter with Joss Stone. I found a couple of tracks on YouTube and then heard an interview with Anoushka Shankar on the BBC World Service. The summer before last we managed an outside broadcast from the Exeter flood prevention space between the river and canal. It can dry out and would be suitable for a  Superheavy concert but so far nobody has come back to us with a date.

So JD, Chris, you may need to reverse order this if you want to say "and before that you heard" and soforth

Anoushka Shankar - Traces Of You ft. Norah Jones

Produced and arranged by Nitin Sawhney

Nitin Sawhney feat Joss Stone, Sunset @ Mama Stone 19092013

Don't know the name of the first singer, ask for a phone in

Wicked Time - Joss Stone And Nadirah (alfie tracksound)

additional vocals by Mick Jagger, produced by Mick and Dave Stewart

Dave Stewart 'Every Single Night' in Frankfurt @ Gibson Club

long version of current single ( you could fade it as time allows)

By the way, for discussion at Cross Media or anywhere this is where "radio" may be heading. All done from YouTube and the audience deserts the station at any time they find a better thread.
